We've consolidated our support forums

We've incorporated our support forums from TheSalesNation.com into our main website SoftwareonSailboats.com. The user accounts from TheSalesNation.com are available on this site.

Linking contacts or deals?

Is there a facility to link contacts? We often have many contacts in a single company, related contacts like consultants, and companies that partner in a real estate deal. Do you have a way to model these relationships?

A common solution is to use a data field to include a common phrase (like "West Dominion Plaza") in the field. Then a text filter for "West Dominion" or "Plaza" ONLY lists those records. Surprisingly effective...

For small sales teams?

From a prospective client: I am a newbe on crm software. Maybe I should read the manual first, but how can I work with more people (4) in the system. Is there a tutorial on this subject available?

The good news is that Desktop Sales Manager can support sales teams in several ways. The bad news is that you'll need to choose which one works best for you. There are tutorials in the Help manual for the more practical, step-by-step details. Here are two approaches:

I'm going on some sales calls and I need a printed report for taking notes...

From a client: As a health insurance agent, I need to be able to print-out a page similar to what we see on the screen when we open an opportunity including also the journal entries.

When I go an an oppointment I need to take this page with me, or if I'm away and dont' have a computer I might print a few different clients and do some hand written notes on the pages until I have time to get back to the office.

Making changes in templates

From a client: I have been trying to utilize the Template Manager this morning to make a slight adjustment a template. Although I have made the changes on the template I am not able to get the fields to populate according to those changes.

Once you have modified and saved a template with the Template Manager, start the Desktop Sales Manager and choose Tools --> Select --> Choose --> (something along those lines). Choose the template you have just created/saved.
