Installation & Upgrades

Office Updates

Desktop Sales Manager ties closely to Microsoft Office - especially Outlook. It is very, very important to have the latest updates from Microsoft for your Office products. Go to the Microsoft Office Updates site for the latest free updates.

Note: You may need to loop through the scan-update-reboot cycle more than once to insure that all of the updates get installed.

Windows Updates and Update Service

I am reloading Windows XP on one of our development systems. After installing the operating system, I used the the free Windows Update service to install the latest patches, fixes, features and security udates. It brought home just how important it is to keep you computer's operating system current when using our software. We deliver software that pushes the leading edge of your computer's operating system.

Upgrading

Dear Sir, I have recently upgrade the Desktop Sales Manager Outlook edition to the latest version. After installed successfully, the system become evaluation copy. My original key is missing. How can I get back the license key? Best regards Viktor

Have to enter a the license key daily...

Your probably do not have read/write permissions for the isolated storage folders on your computer. (Documents and Settings\userid\Local Settings\Application Data\IsolatedStorage where userid is your Windows user name) This will cause the license check to fail, and options will not be remembered by the program. If this is the case then the folder permissions need to be set by someone with administrator-level access. The following steps should make everything work (e.g., while logged on as a regular user): 1) Log on as an administrator

Moving to a new system

A user asks "I am moving to a new laptop. How do I get up and running on the new machine?"

Just download from the website and install on the new laptop. Use the license key from the old system - probably in one of your email folders? The pipeline/data fields often end up in the My Documents folder or on the Desktop - they have the file extension .xml.
Also, if you are using a custom template, copy it over (.sos file extension).
